I was just thinking the other day how happy I was that I hadn’t been sick in a really long time. And then I got the stomach flu. I usually tell myself I’m not sick and go into full blown denial mode until I find myself laying in bed feeling terrible. One of my high school teachers would tell me that getting sick was a complete mental thing and if she told herself enough times she wasn’t getting sick, she wouldn’t! Humor me. I know this isn’t true but hey, it’s always worth the shot. You can guess by the title of this post that things didn’t quite go my way. So, I thought I would share with you the things that help me feel better when I’m under the weather.
Comfortable Clothing // I have no desire to leave my bed when I’m sick so wearing comfortable pajamas is a must.
Fuzzy Blanket // While I plan on staying in bed all day I do like to make my bed. My mom gifted me the most perfect blanket when I went home for the holidays. It’s lightweight and oversized which makes it that much more cozy!
Favorite Movie // The Devil Wears Prada is hands down one of my favorite movies of all time. Meryl Streep nails her role (as per usual) and I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t dream to work at a fashion magazine. Perfect sick day movie.
Hydrate // No mater what brought you under the weather you can’t go wrong with drinking water. The first thing you hear when you get sick is to drink plenty of fluids! I love the S’well bottles because they keep your drink cold or hot all day so you don’t have to be in and out of bed as often.
Bananas // I find that when I’m sick I don’t have much of an appetite. Especially now that I have the stomach flu. However, I have managed to keep down the bits of fruit I’ve been eating and bananas have been my go to. Plus they’re loaded with fiber and antioxidants!
Rest // I can’t stress this enough. Although I don’t love the idea of doing nothing all day it’s important to listen to your body and give it time to recover. Take it easy and don’t overwork yourself.
